How to make someone feel special on their Birthday

If you want to add a little bit of extra pizzazz to a friend or relative' s birthday there are a few fun things you can do to make the day more special.

     Call in to local radio and television stations. Most have a segment where they will announce birthdays. Some require the information a few days in advance so try to call before the birthday actually arrives. You would be surprised how many people listen to these morning shows and will recognize a name of a co-worker or friend they didn't know is having a birthday. Having people come up and say happy birthday out of the blue can really brighten the birthday persons day.

     If you know the person well enough and know they are fun-loving and will not be angry about a messy car you can decorate their car with window chalk and helium or regular balloons. Most people I know would enjoy walking to their car in the morning or after work and seeing a bright birthday message on their vehicle. Don't use shaving cream to write on a car though, it can remove paint.

     Bake them a
     cake. Don't assume someone else is already going to do this. If someone else already made them a cake, who cares! The more cake the better!! Cupcakes are just as fun as a cake. Don't forget the candles.

     Tie balloons to their desk at work. This will keep the birthday wishes coming all day long. You can find cheap, helium birthday balloons at card outlet stores or even at some dollar stores these days.

     Send flowers. Flowers aren't just for girls either. A birthday wish is a birthday wish and a big fun bouquet full of flowers and balloons is always nice to get on your birthday.

     Take them out to dinner. Once again, don't assume someone else is already taking them out to dinner. It doesn't hurt to ask. What if they don't have any plans for their birthday and everyone assumes someone else is already taking them out. Would you want to sit at home alone on your birthday?

     Send a birthday-gram. Check the yellow pages for singing telegrams. Send someone to the birthday boy or girl's work to sing a birthday song. These are a little more costly but well worth the money if you have it to spend. This will be one of the more unique gifts you can get someone.
